The Contax G1 is a 35mm autofocus, electronic rangefinder camera. It sports top-of-the line interchangeable lenses made by Carl Zeiss. The G1 has a focal plane shutter with manual speeds ranging from 1 second to 1/2000. It features an automatic exposure mode (aperture priority) in addition to manual exposure control. At its heart, the G1 is an autofocus rangefinder camera but it does have provisions for manual focusing. When lenses are changed the viewfinder automatically zooms to match the focal length of the installed lens. Overall, it is an incredible camera with some of the best optics ever made for a 35mm system.
However, due to the age of the electronics in these cameras they should always be purchased with caution. We do not warranty Contax G1 cameras due to their increasing unreliable nature, but do test them as thoroughly as we can before making them available for sale.
