The Leica R4 is a manual focus, SLR camera that uses the Leica R-mount lens series. It was introduced in 1980 and was the product of a joint venture between Leitz and Minolta. It bears many similarities to the Minolta MD-7 but with various design updates done by Leitz. The camera has an electronic shutter with a top speed of 1/1000. Metering modes include Manual, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority and full Program automatic exposure. The R4 was built to be smaller than previous Leica SLR cameras. The camera is powered by two SR44 batteries.
