The Nikon N5005 was introduced in 1991 and included a number of attractive features for an autofocus SLR camera. Notably it still uses manual control dials for shutter speed and aperture selection, which make using the N5005 a tactile joy. The built-in flash was redesigned to be able to fully illuminate the field of view of lenses as wide as 28mm. The matrix and center-weighted metering modes could be used in the Program AE, shutter priority, and aperture priority modes. And the camera included a built-in high eyepoint finder ideal for users wearing eyeglasses. It is a camera that manages to be both simple in its use and attractive for beginning photographers but offering a range of features and functions that will appeal to more advanced photographers.
