This Canon Speedlite 430EXii is an external, electronic flash unit designed for use with Canon DSLR and EOS film SLR cameras. It provides many advanced and useful features, such a swivel/bounce head capable of directing the flash in a number of different directions. The 430EXii has a guide number of 43m (141ft) at ISO 100. It has variable power output from 1/1 (full power) down to 1/64 in 1-stop increments. Additionally the 430EXii has a wireless slave function allowing it to be used as a remote flash. One other helpful feature is the 430EXii's infrared autofocus assist which helps the camera autofocus even in very dark situations. While Canon has more powerful Speedlites on the market, the 430EXii is a very capable and affordable flash unit to either begin with, or to add as a remote slave unit paired with a more powerful Speedlite.
