The Canon T80 is Canon's first foray into autofocus lenses, using modified FD-mount lenses known as FD-AC mount. When paired with these lenses, the T80 was capable of TTL autofocus using contrast detection in the viewfinder of the camera. Additionally, the T80 allowed for manual focus override and also works with standard Canon FD lenses, even offering focus confirmation. The T80's exposure modes consist of varying forms of AE Program exposure geared toward different types of shooting scenarios: deep focus, shallow focus, stop action, flowing action, etc. These features all combine to make the T80 a simple and fast camera to use.
