The original Pentax Spotmatic SP camera is a 35mm single lens reflex film camera designed to accept M42 screw mount lenses. The Pentax Spotmatic SP has a fully mechanical shutter with speeds ranging from 1 second to 1/1000, plus Bulb. This camera was groundbreaking due to its inclusion of a built-in coupled light meter that read light passing through the lens and hitting the focusing screen. This was one of the first SLR cameras to hit the market with TTL meter. Originally the Spotmatic used a spot meter, giving the camera its name, but this was quickly changed to a center-weighted pattern for easier use. Early Spotmatic SP cameras have an ISO range of 20-1600 and also include a self-timer. This camera lacks a hot shoe.
