The Vivitar 283 Auto Thyristor is a classic, all-purpose flash for older mechanical film cameras. The 283 has a bounce head, built-in sensor capable of automatic exposure modes and a guide number of 64 at ISO 100.  It uses four AA batteries.

This flash should not be used with any modern electronic camera due to potentially damaging voltage output.
