The Contax G2 is an advanced 35mm autofocus rangefinder camera that also happens to sport some of the best lenses one can put on a 35mm camera of any type. The G2 was the successor to the previous Contax G1 and continues the trend of extreme excellence that camera initiated and takes it to even higher levels. The biggest upgrade in the G2 is arguably the more advanced autofocus system that combines a high-speed active infrared that performs incredibly well even in low lighting conditions with a passive, high precision AF. These two AF systems allow the Contax G2 to autofocus extremely fast and accurately in almost any lighting condition. The other big selling point of the G2 is the system of Carl Zeiss optics available for the camera, with the 45mm f2 Planar considered by some to be the best lens on a 35mm camera of all time. The G2 offered an expanded lineup of lenses beyond what the G1 could use. The camera also features automatic film advance and rewind as well as a low and high speed continuous firing mode (2fps and 4fps respectively). The G2 exposes in either a metered manual or an aperture priority mode. In manual shutter speeds can be set from 4s to 1/4000 while in the automatic mode the camera will time out exposures as long as 16s. The Contax G2 requires two CR2 batteries for all functions.
While this camera system is in excellent shape and fully functioning right now, given the lack of service available on the Contax G series cameras, we are not able to offer any warranty on these cameras.
