The Olympus OM-2S (otherwise known as the OM-2SP) was produced from 1984 until 1988. This camera is a more complete redesign of the original OM-2 than it is an evolution of it. The OM-2S borrows heavily from the design of the OM-4 and gives the OM-2 the capability of full program exposure control. The camera also features a mechanical Bulb and 1/60 shutter speeds, in the event of battery failure. Furthermore, it has a spot metering mode that uses the center 2% of the viewfinder for ultra-precise metering. Finally, the OM-2S also has a fixed hotshoe atop the camera. The camera still uses all Olympus OM mount lenses and the same focusing screens that are compatible with the OM-2.
