Kodak XTOL is a versatile, black and white film developer that can be used either as a one shot developer or as a replenishable developer. It is hydroquinone-free which allows it to be mixed at room temperature for easier handling and immediate developing. It is a flexible developer that tolerates temperature changes or differing agitation methods easily. It enjoys a great shelf life and is quite stable. It can be used at full strength for finer grain, or diluted 1:1 for increased sharpness, film speed and shadow detail with increased graininess. XTOL is an excellent developer for push processing and can be used to push Kodak TMAX P3200 as high as ISO 25600.

- Kodak Tri-X (68° F) 7 minutes, Full strength
- Kodak TMax 100 (68° F) 7.5 minutes, Full strength
- Kodak TMax 400 (68° F) 6.5 minutes, Full strength
- Kodak TMax P3200 (68° F) 13.5 minutes, Full strength
Kodak XTOL comes as a two-part powder that mixes to create 5 liters of stock solution.
