The Leica 28-35-50mm f4 SPH Tri-Elmar-M is a triple focal length lens for Leica M-Mount rangefinder cameras. It's design allows the photographer the versatility and convenience of a zoom lens with the optical quality of the three most common prime lenses. A lens like this Tri-Elmar-M is not a zoom lens in the sense that it can only be used at the three focal length settings and not in between, but at the same time it has been optically engineered for top performance at those individual focal lengths.
"MATE" stands for "medium-angle Tri-Elmar." There is also a wide angle version.
This version of the Tri-Elmar features a convenient 49mm filter thread.
