I have been taking photos since I was 10 years old, being turned loose by my parents with a Kodak 126 camera, a stack of film, and many flashcubes.
At age 13, I was given my uncle's 1930s darkroom equipment and learned how make 35mm prints with an enlarger intended for 6x9 negatives. By high school and college, I had somewhat better gear to print with, a set-up sold last year to a former co-worker.
I've been working in camera stores since 1982, and one of the fun hazards of this trade is that one owns a lot of the classics at one time or another. Lately, I have been on a 35mm rangefinder jag- I have a very nice Leica IIIc, a Canon IVSB, and a Kodak Retina IIa.
Aside from photography, I've also done a lot of independent publishing since the early 80s. The current project is a photography magazine called "Littlefields", which has released 30 issues since 2009. Issues have contained my own work, photographers from the NW and Midwest USA, and Japan. I have participated in over 30 group exhibitions of art and photography here in the USA, Canada, and Europe. You can view my photos and publications on my Flickr site.
