Kodak Brownie Hawkeye Flash Model
The Kodak Brownie Hawkeye Flash is an iconic, Bakelite-bodied box camera manufactured by Eastman Kodak between 1950 and 1961. A successor to the non-flash version from 1949, it became one of Kodak's most popular models due to its simple "point and shoot" design and mid-century aesthetic.
The camera features a single-element meniscus lens with a fixed focal length of approximately 81mm. It has a fixed aperture (around f/16) and a fixed shutter speed of roughly 1/30 to 1/50 of a second. The shutter has two settings: "Instant" for standard shots and a "Bulb" (Long) mode for long exposures. Like the previous Brownie Hawkeye, the Flash model also uses 620 film to produce twelve 6x6cm exposures per roll.
The Flash model can be fitted with a screw-in Kodalite Flasholder accessory that uses single-use flash bulbs to create flash exposures. These holders typically require C-cell batteries to function.
