CatLabs X Film 320 Pro - 120
CatLABS X FILM 320 is an interesting, panchromatic B&W negative film that has been released in a few different versions over the years. The most recent iteration of X Film 320 Pro debuted in 2022 and made the film available in 120 for the first time. X Film 320's distinguishing characteristics seem to be its higher than average contrast, excellent edge sharpness, and moderately fine grain for its respective film speed. The film has a clear base that dries very flat. These two attributes make X Film 320 Pro easy to scan. Interesting enough, the film has a recommended developer pairing of Pyro. When paired with other developers the look and feel of X Film 320 Pro can change a fair bit, as well as the recommended ISO. For example, when intending to develop X Film 320 Pro in Ilfotec HC or Kodak HC-110 it should be exposed at ISO 200.
Nobody outside of CatLABS knows exactly what X Film 320 is. Some speculation points to an ORWO film. This question is somewhat muddied as an earlier version of X Film 320 Pro was reportedly reboxed Kodak Double-X and CatLABS has a history of acquiring odd or unconventional films and repackaging them for sale under the CatLABS brand. It also means that at some point the source of the X Film 320 Pro film may change and this film could become something entirely different but still sold under the same name. For now it is a fun film to shoot if you like a bit of contrast and drama. It really does not hurt to rate this film a bit lower and overexpose it. But hey, it's film so have fun and experiment!
